Free Wifi finder layer is a community managed effort to find and map every free wifi hot spot in Greece. Wifi spots include coffee shops, University areas, hotels, restaurants, internet cafe, wifi access points provided from local authorities and many more. To use the service you need to be the proud owner of an iPhone 3GS or an Android handheld device. You need also to have installed Layar app where you can find it here for iPhone users and here for Android users. Users with iPhone 3G cannot access the Layar applications since magnetometer is crucial for the software operation. If you have already Layar installed and a QRCode reader application, point your application to the code on the left and the layer will open automatically. This month Layar will provide Free WiFi Finder as a featured layer, therefore if you choose featured layers you will be able to view it.Furthermore, in order to encourage community collaboration for knowledge and data sharing, we provide a special twitter hashtag (#freewifigr), where each tagged tweet that has spatial information (georss) will automatically be a candidate free wifi point.
We have adopted a loose moderation process before publishing twitter generated free wifi points.
